There’s a lot of science behind what it takes to help an already fast athlete run faster. Developing fast twitch muscles through isometric training is one of the best ways to develop speed. At our Downers Grove speed training for football, basketball and soccer facility, we work with professional athletes using all types of isometric exercises. Teaching athletes how to hold certain muscle positions helps to strengthen and develop these fast twitch muscles. But this is only part of the answer.
An athlete must be flexible. It is this increased muscle flexibility, which enhances an athlete’s range of motion. This improved range of motion will allow the proper stretching techniques to be employed, thus improving the overall effectiveness of the speed training exercises. Toning and improving one’s flexibility will not only help to increase overall speed but also help to promote faster running with less incidence of injury.
