Kinesio taping or elastic therapeutic sports tape is a technique that uses the body’s own healing process. Made from cotton and acrylic adhesives Kinseo taping helps to treat many athletic injuries. Dr. Kenzo Kase a Japanese chiropractor is credited with the invention in the 1970s.
Kinseo taping is used in our select physical therapy in downers grove to relax muscles that have been overused. They help to reduce swelling and inflammation without compromising range of motion. The wave pattern found on the tape’s adhesive strips gently lifts the skin, which reduced inflammation and pain by allowing the blood to continually flow to all areas of the body, especially the injured area.
Because it is non-restrictive Kinseo taping allows an athlete’s joints the stability and support they need, while working with the body’s lymphatic, neural, muscular and circulatory systems.
Used by physical therapists, orthopedists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists, Kinseo taping is a preferred method of taping an injury.
